Tai Chi

What is Tai Chi?

Tai Chi, also known as Tai Chi Chuan or Taijiquan, is an ancient Chinese martial art that has evolved into a popular form of exercise and meditation. It is characterized by slow, flowing movements and a focus on deep breathing and mental concentration. Tai Chi is often practiced for its numerous health benefits, including improved balance, flexibility, and stress reduction.

The practice of Tai Chi involves a series of choreographed movements, known as forms or routines, that are performed in a slow and controlled manner. These movements are designed to promote the flow of vital energy, or "qi," throughout the body, according to traditional Chinese medicine principles.

Tai Chi is not only a martial art but also a mind-body practice that encourages a state of calmness and mindfulness. It is suitable for people of all ages and fitness levels and is often recommended for promoting overall well-being. Additionally, Tai Chi is sometimes practiced in groups or classes, providing a social aspect to the practice.

Tai Chi at Open Heart Energy

We offer a Tai Chi course every so often. The training is composed of 14-session course, offered during a period of several weeks. We will learn the entire Short Yang Tai Chi form, also known as the Standard 24 Yang.

In our Tai Chi course, we will start each session with a gentle warm-up, followed by several Qi-Gong exercises (Qi-Gong are repeated movements aimed at cultivating energy in the body), and then proceed to learn the Short Yang form, adding moves in each progressing session. Since this course is based on progression in learning the various moves, there can be no drop-ins. It is a complete package. You may miss a class and make it up the following session, but it is not recommended to miss more than one class in a row.

The entire course cost is $515.00 (including all 14 sessions).
Each session is about 60 min in length. (Earlier session may be 45 min and later session may be up to 75 min.)
SPACE IS LIMITED.
If you wish to secure space, please apply earlier rather than later.
